Understanding AMP Licensing: AMP for vSpace vs. Device AMP
Introduction
The Annual Maintenance Program (AMP) from NComputing is a family of support and software maintenance plans designed to enhance the value of your NComputing environment. However, it's important to understand that there are two distinct AMP productsโAMP for vSpace and Device AMPโeach with different purposes, benefits, and application rules.
This article explains the differences between these two offerings to help you remain compliant and get the most from your investment. Let's look at these products separately:
AMP for vSpace
AMP for vSpace Pro is a comprehensive subscription service designed to unlock the full capabilities of the vSpace Pro Enterprise Edition, with vSpace native thin-clients while also enabling support for legacy devices and providing premium technical support.

- Enables older devices (e.g., L250, L300, M300 manufactured before Jan 1, 2015) to remain functional with supported vSpace Pro versions.

- Starting June 1, 2024, AMP coverage for 100+ devices includes free vSpace Pro Client licenses
Compliance Requirement:
To be compliant, 100% coverage is required. That is, having an AMP for vSpace license for every reported serial number of active, native NComputing hardware devices.
Remember that your AMP licensing is not based on concurrent sessions, but based on active serial numbers reported to your Management Portal account.
vSpace Pro Client, LEAFOS or RX...RDP series use a different license to maintain connection to vSpace Pro Enterprise.

Purchasing & Licensing Model:
- Available for purchase through authorized resellers or directly via the Management Portal.
- If a license is purchased via the Management Portal, licenses are automatically applied to your account.
- If a license is purchased via reseller, you will receive an email with a license key and it must be applied promptly to your account to activate.
- Licenses do not need to be assigned to specific devices, but will be counted against active serial numbers reported to the Management Portal.

Device AMP
Device AMP is a maintenance subscription specifically designed for individual NComputing endpoint devices. Unlike AMP for vSpace, Device AMP can be purchased and applied selectively per device.

- 24/7 access to self-help resources
- Unlimited ticket submissions

Licensing Model:
- One license per device is required.
- New devices include 1 year of complimentary Device AMP.
- After expiration, renewal is optional but strongly recommended to maintain access to benefits.
Important Notes:
- Licenses must be allocated to specific devices in the Management Portal.
- Unassigned licenses are not effective.
- If a license expires and is later renewed, the renewal will apply retroactively to the expiration date.
