LEAF OS licensing guide

Introduction

LEAF OS by NComputing enables repurposing of PCs, laptops, or thin clients into powerful virtual desktop endpoints. To operate LEAF OS and ensure seamless integration with vSpace Pro Enterprise or VERDE VDI, appropriate licensing is required.

This article outlines the license types available for LEAF OS, along with optional add-ons and connection requirements.

1. LEAF OS Device Activation License (Required)

Each LEAF OS device requires its own perpetual activation license for deployment and use.

License SKU:

  1. LeafOS—P: LEAF OS Device Perpetual Activation License
  2. Available for purchase in the NComputing Management Portal > Purchase Licenses and Services   

Included with Activation:

  1. Perpetual use of the LEAFOS software
  2. 1-year complimentary Annual Maintenance Plan (Device AMP) for software updates and access to PMC. After the first year, AMP renewal is required to continue receiving firmware and software updates.

2. Device AMP (Software Maintenance) – Optional but Recommended

AMP ensures your LEAF OS device stays updated with the latest features, enhancements, and security improvements.

License SKUs:

You can extend your AMP coverage with the following SKUs:
  1. NC-AMP-RXRDP-1A – 1 additional year
  2. NC-AMP-RXRDP-2A – 2 additional years
  3. NC-AMP-RXRDP-3A – 3 additional years
  4. NC-AMP-RXRDP-4A – 4 additional years

3. Connecting to vSpace Pro Enterprise – Optional

LEAF OS devices can connect to vSpace Pro Enterprise Edition, however, connections to vSpace Pro 11 LTS are not supported.
Unlike RX Series thin clients, LEAF OS devices do not include embedded vSpace Client connection licenses. To avoid trial limitations you must purchase separate vSpace Client Connection Licenses.

  1. LEAFOS-P-VS - Bundled LEAFOS Perpetual Activation License (to unlock LEAFOS) with perpetual connection to vSpace Pro Enterprise.

     
  2. vSpacePro-LeafOS-1A – 1-year license
  3. vSpacePro-LeafOS-3A – 3-year license
  4. vSpacePro-LeafOS-5A – 5-year license
  5. Available for purchase in the NComputing Management Portal > Purchase Licenses and Services

4. Connecting to VERDE VDI or VERDE Remote Access – Optional

LEAF OS is compatible with VERDE VDI Suite, allowing remote access or virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). Two license types are supported and both are concurrent connection models.

License SKUs:

For Remote PC Access via VERDE Connection Broker:
  1. VERDE-WFH-1A-10 – 10-seat license, annual subscription
    Best value option for remote access to physical PCs

For Full VDI Sessions:
  1. VERDE8-CCU-1A – 1 concurrent user license, annual subscription
    Supports access to VDI sessions hosted by VERDE servers

  2. Available for purchase in the NComputing Management Portal > Purchase Licenses and Services  

Conclusion

To get started with LEAF OS, a device activation license is required. For full functionality and long-term support, AMP and appropriate connection licenses should be considered based on your environment—whether you're connecting to vSpace Pro Enterprise or VERDE VDI.
