How to Use Device Groups in the Management Portal
Introduction
The Device Groups feature in the
NComputing Management Portal simplifies device organization, license allocation, and deployment workflows. This article explains how to create and manage Device Groups and outlines the benefits of using them.
What Are Device Groups?
Device Groups allow you to organize registered devices into logical subsets. Once grouped, you can efficiently assign Device AMP licenses or configure zero-touch onboarding for PMC.
Key Benefits of Device Groups
- Pro-rated Device AMP Assignment: Apply AMP licenses only to selected devices in a group instead of all devices in your account.
- Zero-Touch Onboarding for PMC: Pre-configure groups of devices for automatic registration with a designated PMC instance, reducing manual setup.
How to Create and Manage a Device Group
Step 1: Create a New Group
- Log in to NComputing.com with your account and click on the the Management Portal tab.

- Click on My Registered Devices icon.
- On the left pane of the window, click on Create New Group.

- Enter a name for your Device Group.

- Your newly created group will appear in the left pane.

Step 2: Filter Devices
- On the left pane of the window, select FILTER LIST DEVICE MODELS to narrow down the selection of available units based on their device model.

Step 3: Select Devices
- From the filtered results, manually select the devices you want to add to the group.

Step 4: Add to Group
- Click Add to Group to assign the selected devices to the new Device Group.
