Introduction
This article outlines NComputing’s policy regarding the use of older thin client devices with vSpace Pro Software. It explains the requirements, licensing options, and potential impact on your deployment if you’re using legacy devices manufactured before January 1st, 2015.
Policy Summary
vSpace Pro Server Software is designed and developed by NComputing Global, Inc, established in 2015 and is exclusively licensed and permitted for use by NComputing devices manufactured from the 1st of January, 2015 to the present.
NComputing’s policy regarding legacy devices depends on two key factors: the version of vSpace software you’re using and the manufacture date of your devices.
If You Are Using vSpace 6, 7, 8, or 10
This policy primarily affects current versions of vSpace Pro. While your legacy system may not show immediate issues, support for these older versions has long ended. To prevent a future failure, you’ll need to transition to supported solutions — at which point this policy will apply.
We strongly recommend proactively migrating your legacy system to the latest vSpace Pro platform. Contact a
technical support agent today to discuss upgrade options.

Important Note About vSpace 6.9 or Earlier
While legacy devices can technically connect to vSpace 6.9 “as-is”, this platform is now officially End-of-Life (EOL) and can no longer be registered or activated. The registration infrastructure has been decommissioned, and new deployments of vSpace 6.9 are no longer possible.
If you’re still using vSpace 6.x:
• You’re relying on unsupported software with no guarantees of stability.
• You’re likely using legacy thin client devices, which will require licensing if moved to a supported platform.
We strongly encourage all customers to migrate to vSpace Pro Enterprise Edition with valid AMP or vSpace Pro 11, LTS with Aged Device licensing.
Devices Manufactured On or After January 1st, 2015
If your devices were manufactured in 2015 or later, you’re fully compliant with current policy — provided you’re also using a supported version of vSpace Pro 11 LTS or vSpace Pro Enterprise + AMP.
Devices Manufactured Before January 1st, 2015 (Legacy Devices)
The following models, if manufactured before January 1st, 2015, are considered legacy devices under this policy:
- L250
- L300
- M300
Devices older than these may not qualify for licensing at all.
Compliance Options for Legacy Devices
If you’re using a legacy device, you may encounter service disruptions or warning messages indicating the
device is not authorized. To avoid these issues, you must license the devices using one of the following options:
Option 1: [Best option and the most cost-effective]
Purchase AMP for vSpace Pro licensing (SKU: NC-AMP-1A) for all connected L/M/MX and RX300 devices.
AMP is a feature-packed suite of benefits which will allow the connection to vSpace Pro for your legacy devices. However, you will have to cover 100% of vSpace connected thin client devices registered under your NComputing account regardless of manufacture date.
Option 2: Legacy Device Licensing
You can
purchase an Aged Device License (SKU: vSpacePro-Old-1A) This license only permits the use of the older devices with vSpace Pro 11, LTS and does not include the benefits of AMP for vSpace Pro.
If most of your deployment consists of legacy devices, AMP may be a better overall option.
Impact of Non-Compliance
If You’re Using vSpace Pro Versions Earlier than 11.3.2
You should immediately upgrade to the latest version of vSpace Pro 11 LTS or vSpace Pro Enterprise.
Older versions (vSpace Pro 10.x, or early v11.x) lack the logic to distinguish between device age. If you’re non-compliant, all devices may be blocked, regardless of manufacture date.
Additionally, these versions may fail to register properly with the Management Portal, preventing accurate licensing status updates.
If You’re Using vSpace Pro 11.3.2 (Released July 1, 2019) or Newer
In this version and later, only non-compliant legacy devices will be blocked. Devices manufactured in 2015 or later will not be affected.
Conclusion
If you’re deploying vSpace Pro with older NComputing devices, it’s essential to comply with this policy to ensure uninterrupted service. Use AMP licensing or Legacy Device licensing as appropriate.
vSpace 6, 7, 8, 10, or early v11.x are no longer suitable platforms for modern deployments, especially those involving legacy devices.
