Windows 10 RDP Issue: Unable to connect using RDP Protocol to access Windows 10 and Windows 8.1

Windows 10 RDP Issue: Unable to connect using RDP Protocol to access Windows 10 and Windows 8.1

Product Line:  VERDE

In Windows 10 and 8.1 Microsoft changed RDP’s defaults. They modified the default for “SecurityLayer” from 0 to 2. Even if you go into the user interface and disable: “Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication (recommended)” Still doesn’t change that value to a 0.

Simple fix:

Open RegEdit
Navigate to this Key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp
Change “SecurityLayer” to a zero
Reboot

You'll probably still need to access the Control Panel/Remote/Allow remote access to your computer and set check boxes similar to the following:
