If you encounter the following message while attempting a local firmware update on an RX420(RDP), RX440(RDP), or RX-RDP+ thin client, please continue reading for further information.
For brevity, “thin client device” in this article refers to any RX420(RDP), RX440(RDP) or RX-RDP+.
To troubleshoot the issue, please follow these steps:
a. If the firmware version is 2.4.5 or higher:
i. Make sure the thin client device is connected to the Internet before initiating a reboot. The thin client device will attempt to contact the NComputing Management Portal to retrieve its current AMP license status. Please wait at least 1-minute before attempting to perform a local firmware update to the latest version (e.g., 4.5.3).
b. If the firmware version is 1.12.8 or lower:
i. Perform a local firmware update to an intermediate RX version 2.4.5. You can find the download link for version 2.4.5 below. The firmware update process will automatically reboot the thin client device.

ii. Once
the thin client device is upgraded to 2.4.5, connect it to the Internet and
perform another reboot. The device will attempt to contact the NComputing
Management Portal. Please wait at least 1-minute before attempting to perform a
local firmware update to the latest version (e.g., 4.5.3).
