Windows: Desktop icons disappear when the mouse moves over them

Symptom:

In the user session of NComputing stations, the desktop icons sometimes disappear when the mouse moves over them if the host OS is Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows MultiPoint Server 2010.

Cause:

For Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows MultiPoint Server 2010, the system is configured to adjust for best appearance by default. The side effect of this configuration is that desktop icons sometimes disappear.

Solution:

Change the configuration so that the system adjusts for best performance. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System and click "Advanced system settings". Click Settings button in Performance section. Under the first tab "Visual Effects", choose "Adjust for best performance".
