What is the new LEAF OS workspace concept introduced in version 5.2 and higher versions?

Starting in LEAF OS version 5.2, the new LEAF OS workspace features include:

  1. The ability to define a collection of applications, such as VDI clients (AVD, Citrix, RDP, VMware Horizon, VERDE, vSpace), web browsers, collaboration applications (Microsoft Teams, Zoom Meetings), and custom Linux applications, all aggregated in the LEAF OS desktop to create a unified user workspace.
  2. Enhanced user productivity by enabling easily launching, multitasking, and toggling between different applications. This includes local LEAF OS applications and published VDI resources, accessible through the LEAF OS Desktop, Start Menu, App Launcher, and Taskbar.
  3. The flexibility to create multiple instances of the same VDI application (AVD, RDP, vSpace, VERDE) for more complex deployment scenarios.

Each application, whether local or published in VDI environments, can be easily accessed from the Start Menu, Desktop Icon, or the optional App Launcher. Refer to the screenshot below:

Newly created applications will, by default, be shown on the Desktop (as an icon) and in the Start Menu. See the screenshot below:

Applications inherited from previous LEAF OS firmware versions (i.e. 4.11.2 and earlier versions) will, by default, appear only in the Start Menu. To enable their desktop icons, go to Settings > Applications, select the desired application, click the Edit icon, and choose the Show Desktop icon option.

Some users may prefer accessing their defined application via the App Launcher rather than through the Start Menu or Desktop Icons. To do so, click the Edit icon and choose the Show on App Launcher option. Refer to the screenshot below:
