Microsoft Teams optimization refers to techniques and
features designed to enhance the performance and user experience of Microsoft
Teams, particularly in virtualized environments like Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD),
Citrix, and VMware. The optimization aims to reduce resource usage, improve
call quality, and ensure smooth operation, especially in scenarios where
bandwidth or processing power might be limited.
- In LEAF OS endpoints, including the
EX500 thin client, Microsoft Teams optimization is supported in AVD, Windows
365, Microsoft RDS, Citrix, and VMware Horizon sessions.
- For RX thin clients, specifically
the RX420(RDP) and RX440(RDP) models, Microsoft Teams optimization is supported
in AVD, Windows 365, and Microsoft RDS sessions starting from firmware version
4.9.100 and higher.
The following instructions summarize
the necessary configurations to enable the Microsoft Teams optimization for
AVD, Windows 365, and RDS sessions on LEAF OS endpoints, EX500, RX420(RDP), and
RX440(RDP) thin clients.
Server-side configuration:
- Refer to “UseMicrosoft Teams on AVD” document for the information.
- For Microsoft Teams (audio/video) optimization
in AVD, Windows 365, and RDP sessions, Remote Desktop WebRTC Redirector version
1.50 or higher must be used. The latest version can be found on the Microsoft
website here.
The WebRTC Redirector Service is a component that helps optimize the Microsoft
Teams experience on Windows AVD and Windows 365.
Client-side configuration:
- For AVD and Windows 365 connections: under General
settings, select AVD Client operation mode, in AVD connection
settings, select the Enable Microsoft Teams optimization checkbox.
- For RDP connections: under General settings,
select RDP Client operation mode, in RDP connection settings, choose AVD
as Client type and select the Enable Microsoft Teams optimization
checkbox.
