Local Printing/Printer Connected to Workstation not working in Remote Desktop (RDP and SPICE)

ISSUE:

Printers attached to the workstation and the VDI/Image is Windows 10 or Windows 8.1, printing does not function.  Following are step to fix this issue:

Solution:

The Verde Team has found a ‘fix’ for both Windows 8.1 Pro N and Windows 10, to properly ‘inherit’ the local Printer driver of the redirected printer for your Bar code printer issue.

Steps:
  1. Check-out Gold image
  2. Open Control Panel -> Devices and Printers
  3. ADD a Generic / Text Only printer on LPT1  (creates the Printer Driver)
  4. Close Control Panel
  5. Launch ‘gpedit.msc’ from the ‘Run’ command
  6. Open  Computer Config -> Admin Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services -> RD Session Host -> Printer Redirection
  7. Edit the setting:  Use Remote Desktop Easy Print printer driver first 
  8. Change this to ‘Disabled
  9. Shutdown the Gold image and do a ‘Check-in’
  10. Launch Verde Client and select this Gold image
  11. Click ‘Actions’ – ‘Revert’ to ensure the latest version of the Gold image is being used
  12. Click ‘Connect to Desktop’ and test the printer
