How to Create and Apply an L400 Device Profile with Password

Introduction

This article explains how to create, apply, and manage L400 Device Profiles using the vSpace Pro Enterprise Console.

The guide demonstrates how to:

  • Create a device profile with Password Protection of Device Settings enabled.
  • Apply the profile to one or more L400 devices.
  • Verify that password protection has been successfully enforced.
  • Remove password protection by deploying an updated profile.

Before You Begin

Prerequisites

Before configuring an L400 device profile, ensure the following:

  • vSpace Pro Enterprise Server Software is installed and operational.
  • The L400 devices are connected to the vSpace Server.
  • The devices are online and visible in the vSpace Console.
  • You have Administrator privileges to create and deploy device profiles.
  • Communication between the server and the L400 devices is functioning normally.

Creating a Device Profile with password protection enabled

Step 1 – Open Device Profiles

  1. Launch the vSpace Console.
  2. Navigate to Profiles.
  3. Select Device Profiles.
  4. Click New Profile.

Step 2 – Configure Password Protection

Under the Device Settings section:

Enable: ✔ Password protection of device settings

Enter the desired password.

Configure any additional device settings as required.

Click Save.

Applying the Profile to an L400 Device

Step 1 – Select the Device

Navigate to: Devices

Select the desired L400 device.

Step 2 – Select the Profile to Selection

Click the selected device.

Select the device and choose "Apply Profile to Selection"

Step 3 – Select the Profile

Choose the newly created profile.

Click Apply.

Step 4 – Confirm Deployment

Wait until the deployment completes successfully.

The console will indicate that the profile has been applied.

Expected Result

The L400 device receives the updated configuration.

When attempting to access protected settings on the device, the user is prompted for the configured password.

Removing Password Protection

If password protection is no longer required:

  1. Open the existing Device Profile or create a new one.
  2. Uncheck: Password protection of device settings
  3. Save the profile.
  4. Apply the updated profile to the target L400 device using Apply Profile to Selection.

Validation Summary

Creating and deploying L400 device profiles from the vSpace Pro Enterprise Console functions as expected. Enabling Password Protection of Device Settings successfully restricts access to protected settings, while deploying a profile with the option disabled removes the password requirement. Both scenarios were validated successfully using the Apply Profile to Selection workflow.
