How does "REVERT A SNAPSHOT" Actually Work?
Product Line: VERDE
This article discusses how to use the Gold Image function button entitled "REVERT A SNAPSHOT". In this discussion, our Windows 10/2004 image has the base image (GUEST.IMG) and four added layers (GUEST-2.IMG, GUEST-3.IMG, GUEST-4.IMG and GUEST-5.IMG).
The user image has:
Here's what it looks like from the server side (/home/vb-verde/verde-orgs/org-0/gold/Win1020044/
To remove layers, the Gold Image must be checked out and the gold image MUST be powered off. If you select the "REVERT A SNAPSHOT" with the gold image up and running, you will destroy the image.
To set the image back to the way it was before GUEST-5.IMG (FireFox) was added, select the click link that corresponds to the GUEST-4.IMG. Select YES to complete. Check in the gold image.
Now, when the user logs in, there's no FireFox and the GUEST-5.IMG is gone:
Now, to set it back to the original GUEST.IMG and remove all layers, simply REVERT back to GUEST.IMG. Check out the gold image and select the REVERT A SHANPSHOT button.
Select on the click link corresponding to GUEST.IMG and select YES from the pop-up. Check in the gold image.
Here's what the user sees. All of the layers/applications are gone:
And only the original GUEST.IMG remains.
