Configuring CIFS for VERDEOS

Product Line:  VERDE

Following are instructions to assist in setting up Common Internet File System (CIFS) to be used as Shared Storage by VERDEOS.

·         Create a CIFS share on the Windows Server and make sure it is accessible from another host in the same network.

  1. ·   Install and configure VerdeOS
  2. Exit out of the menu system to run a command at the command line
  3. Install cifs utils using command        yum install cifs-utils 
  4. Exit from the line command and access the menu again
  5. Stop System Services and Networking
  6. Go to Server Configuration
  7. Select option 3 "Configure External Storage"
  8. Select option 1 "CIFS-style mount"
  9. Provide mount path "i.e. \\<MyServer>/share name for example we configure as below:
    1. \\10,10.1.31\dir ("dir" is the share folder name created on the Windows Server 2016)


  1. Go to Network Configuration and Test Network



  1. On Windows server host machine create a folder i.e. DIR
  2.  Go to folder properties – Sharing Tab and click in Share.



    Keep Administrator option selected and click on Share...



 Click on Advance Sharing option and enable the check box for Share this folder and then click on Permissions and set Permissions to Full Control
